Tailor your content. Tailoring your content is not only for the content you write, but for where you write it as well. Figure out who your target customer is and adjust your social media presence based on that. Do you want to use Facebook or Instagram? Twitter or Pinterest? All are viable options, but figure out which one works best for your small business and start there. Once you figure out which platform works best, tailoring your tone to the type of person will be a breeze.

Get visibility. One method of getting noticed is to create a blog on your website and to write consistently. The more content you have, the more likely people are to see it. Try using SEO in your content as well. Using keywords can help bring up your posts in the search results, but SEO is no easy task and often needs expert assistance. With the many aspects of SEO, you could be spending more time than it’s worth to try to prepare your content correctly. When you have content, you’re going to need a way to get it out there. One of the best ways to do this is to utilize your existing social media accounts to post your blogs. Using your existing networks can help to gain traction with a larger audience.

Generate leads. Generating content is great for building customer relations, but even better for generating leads. In your blogs, include internal links that not only get people closer to buying your product, but also keep your audience interested by sending them to new blogs. Similarly, use your blogs to create content ladders. This means including something like “related blogs” at the bottom or even middle of your blog. Most importantly, always include a call to action where your audience can take action and actually order your product or sign up with your business’s communications or newsletters.

Content marketing can be as entertaining as it is productive for your business, so go ahead and give it a try!
