TROY, Mich., Nov. 18, 2015 - North American Bancard (NAB), an industry leader in credit card processing and provider of the PayAnywhere mobile point-of-sale solution, announced that its founder, president and CEO, Marc Gardner, was the recipient of the 2015 Best of MichBusiness’ CEO of CEO’s Award. The award is presented annually by the Michigan Business and Professional Association (MBPA), an organization that celebrates and promotes success and opportunity within the Michigan business community.

The award is given each year to the “leaders of the leaders,” the CEO’s of Michigan-based businesses that best exemplify what it means to be a leader in today’s economic climate. It was presented to Gardner for his success in building North American Bancard from a one-person start-up in 1992 to an established, award-winning ISO, processing over $34 billion in transactions for more than 250,000 client businesses in 2014. Gardner’s leadership of NAB over the last 20-plus years has enabled the company to not just survive the economic downturn, but thrive. Currently, NAB is experiencing tremendous growth, thanks in part to the latest version of PayAnywhere, which was released in September and accepts all NFC payments like Apple Pay and Samsung Pay.

“I am extremely honored to be named one of the Best of MichBusiness’ CEO of CEO’s. But the fact is, a great leader is only as good as the people he has working for him, and at North American Bancard, we employ some of the best minds in the payments and credit card processing industries,” Gardner said. “Our success is contingent upon continually striving to improve and get better at what we do. We never stand still and are constantly working on the development of new, exciting and innovative products for our merchants.”

Established by the MPBA, the Best of MichBusiness Awards are presented annually to local individuals and companies that make Michigan a top-notch place to do business. In addition to the CEO of CEO’s Award, the Best of MichBusiness Awards honors exceptional achievement in 16 other categories, including Community Leaders, Education Excellence, Media Marvels and One-Person Wonders. Gardner and the other 2015 Best of MichBusiness Award winners were honored at a gala event on Nov. 17 at the International Banquet Center in Detroit.

“I’m fortunate to have an extremely talented team of people at NAB as well as really talented legal counsel in Honigman Miller and Berkowitz Trager & Trager,” said Haggarty. “Without their assistance in putting those deals together, we wouldn’t be where we are today.”
